For vendors who use Square
Selling with Square at farmers markets or craft fairs? Keep it.
Square takes the payment. TentTally keeps track of everything around it — what sold at which market, what you made on it, what to pack next time, and what you owe in tax.

How the connection works
Import your catalog
Connect your Square account and pull in your items — prices, costs, and SKUs — instead of retyping them. For items with several variations, you choose whether each variation becomes its own product. Stock counts come over once you turn on inventory sync.
Charge with Square at the booth
Build the cart in TentTally's Order Builder on your phone or tablet and tap Charge with Square. The Square Point of Sale app opens with the total filled in; once the payment goes through, you're back in TentTally with the sale recorded — items, discounts, and the Square transaction ID.
Optional: sync stock with Square
If Square is where you keep your stock counts, turn on inventory sync: TentTally pulls Square's counts about two hours after each market ends, and can push a new count back when you log a production batch. Square's count wins on each pull, replacing any deductions from sales recorded only in TentTally.
Letting a helper run the booth? They can Charge with Square from a cashier login that never shows your costs. Charge with Square needs the Square Point of Sale app on the same phone or tablet. TentTally doesn't process payments itself.
Heads up on stock counts: Charge with Square and inventory sync don't yet keep stock right together. Card sales taken with Charge with Square don't deduct TentTally stock, and Square receives only the total, so its item counts don't change either. If accurate stock counts matter to you, use one or the other for now.
Square questions
- No. Square is optional. Without it, you record how each sale was paid — cash, card from any reader, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or check — and TentTally's reports break your revenue down by payment method.
- No. TentTally reads your catalog from Square but never edits your Square items or prices. The only thing it can write back is a stock count after you log a production batch, and only for items with inventory sync on.
- No — Square receives the cart total. The itemized sale lives in TentTally, which is where your per-product sales, profit, and tax reports come from.
- No. TentTally imports your Square catalog and, with inventory sync on, stock counts — not past transactions. Your sales history in TentTally starts with your first market using it.
- It opens the Square Point of Sale app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device, so it works with the readers you already use with that app. It doesn't send payments to a standalone Square Terminal.
